It is fairly common when one or both of the ferris wheels will turn as they should, but only when they are unladen.  When a ball is loaded in one of the wheels, the wheels fail to spin, and advance the ball to the ramp.  The cause is due to the "drive belt" used for the wheels is slipping.  In most cases, the belt (WMS # 23-6673) is slipping, because after many years of use, it has become stretched. In most cases, replacement of the belt is the solution. Replacement belts are available from several of the parts vendors listed [http://pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Pinball_Parts_Suppliers here].  When installing a new belt, make certain to apply proper tension on the belt with the idler pulley.<br>

One or both of the ferris wheels will not carry the ball
It is fairly common when one or both of the ferris wheels will turn as they should, but only when they are unladen. When a ball is loaded in one of the wheels, the wheels fail to spin, and advance the ball to the ramp. The cause is due to the "drive belt" used for the wheels is slipping. In most cases, the belt (WMS # 23-6673) is slipping, because after many years of use, it has become stretched. In most cases, replacement of the belt is the solution. Replacement belts are available from several of the parts vendors listed here. When installing a new belt, make certain to apply proper tension on the belt with the idler pulley.

It is unfortunate, but the ferris wheel assembly must be removed to replace the belt. Likewise, the ferris wheel assembly is not easily removed.
