Ok, someone on pinside was saying the mod caused some damage because pinwiki didn't have the current limited resistor noted. I wasn't sure if it was necessary or not for sys11 --ForceFlow (talk) 08:58, 30 June 2016 (CDT)

What kind of damage? Personally, I use a current limiting resistor (68 - 100 ohms), but I have used just a jumper too.--Jimpal (talk) 20:22, 30 June 2016 (CDT)

Can you point me to that post? I don't believe that damage can be caused for one second. Chris Hibler

Found this, after a quick search on PS - https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/best-battery-replacement-video#post-3223849. I don't see the word "damage" anywhere though.Lose settings, yes. Cause resets and messed with power supply, can't see it.

A current limiting resistor does help with less frequent recharges though. Over the past couple of years, I have found that memory caps do not work well with Williams boards 3-11C. They work, but need recharged more frequently than others. Mem caps do work well on Sys80s (I've had them hold charge for over a year on stored games), DE boards, classic Bally and Sterns, and Atari. I have not heard good things about them on Sys1s, and they hold on WPC, just not very long (maybe 1-2 weeks tops).

FWIW, Sys80 and Bally / Stern already have the current limiting resistor installed.--Jimpal (talk) 06:54, 1 July 2016 (CDT)
